By popular demand I have added an abdominal training page.
On this page I will discuss getting and keeping the ever elusive six pack. Who after all doesn't want a flat stomach?
There are differences of opinion between washboard abs and a nice toned look, or maybe veins or no veins, but everyone, I
mean like probably 99 percent of the population likes em nice and flat. So sexy right???
TRAIN THEM TILL THEY BURN:
I love hanging ab exercises. They are probably the most effective at building thick defined abdominals, and
certainly something to look forward to as your training advances. I do sets of between 10 and 20 and usually do
compound sets and also tri sets to really burn those abs. I started doing tick tocks (windshield wipers), when I
saw some person in a magazine doing them and they were supposedly the hardest exercise EVER for abs. Of course, I wanted
to do them immediately, but it took me a while to get good at them. Now they are a breeze and it is really fun to kind
of swing around on the bars like a kid:) I never was a gymnast but I bet it is a little like that (see photographs in
my gallery of this exercise).
I also really like full leg sweeps. I do sets of 8 to ten and then usually drop off the
bar straight into kneeling weighted rope crunches sets of 10 to 20 OUCH.....It hurts so good. I love the hanging leg
raises and even hanging knee raises are great. I have read articles where some bodybuilders claim they don't even have
to work their abs. Well, maybe in my next life that will be me but not in this one. Also, looking around
at the general population (Ahem) I think my advice is better, work em hard and often. For my clients who are relatively
new to training, I recommend lots of mat work. Leg ups, assisted sit-ups, and planks are extremely effective at building
a solid core.
